Maersk shares jump 7% after shipping giant smashes profit estimates and hikes outlook

Maersk lifted its 2026 earnings outlook for the second time this year after reporting Q2 EBITDA of $3B, well above the $2.04B consensus. CEO Vincent Clerc cited resilient demand and land-side bottlenecks pushing freight rates higher. Shares jumped 7% at the open. German rival Hapag-Lloyd also posted stronger volumes and rates despite $600M in Middle East costs.
