Stocks making the biggest moves midday: Palo Alto Networks, Fervo Energy, Chevron, Apple & more

* Housing stocks fell as construction spending dropped 0.5% in July. * AI infrastructure and chip stocks declined amid risk-off sentiment. * Moderna rose 5% on positive cancer vaccine trial results. Housing-related stocks dropped after U.S. construction spending fell 0.5% in July; ITB lost nearly 2%, Builders FirstSource fell 4%, LGI Homes fell 3%, and Home Depot dropped 2%. AI infrastructure names slid with BAI down 1%, Lumentum 5%, Teradyne 5%, and Coherent 2%. Moderna gained 5% after positive late-stage cancer-vaccine data. Fervo Energy surged 25% on a 396-MW geothermal PPA with Google. Semiconductors weakened as SMH lost 2%, Nvidia 1%, AMD 3%, and Micron 2%. Energy stocks rose with oil prices; XLE gained 1%, EOG 2%, and Chevron 1%. Novartis rose 6% on positive MS drug trial results. Duolingo gained 5% after an Evercore upgrade. Medtronic advanced 2% after raising its FY2027 EPS outlook.
